All the girls agree that their wedding day is one of the most important days of their lives and every woman wants to look beyond amazing that day. As a wedding photographer, I have experienced that a lot of my brides tell me that they’ve booked a professional hair stylist, but that they will apply their make up on their own or their best friend/sister/aunt will do it for them, because they are doing it so beautifully and they know exactly what suits her and what she likes.
A lot of us think that we are able to apply our own makeup beautifully and even though we can do a great job, we sometimes don’t understand that our everyday makeup doesn’t match the standards of the professional makeup. Makeup artist are educated to bring out our best features and bring out the “best” version of ourselves. They know how to contour our face, reshape it with their brushes, or make our eyes be the “center of attention” with their top quality products which will also guarantee the long lasting makeup throughout the day and night.
But, since I’m a photographer, I will let the professional makeup artist Romana Poropat to further explain the matter.
Dear girls and future brides,
If you ever wonder whether or not you should have professional makeup done for your wedding day, the answer should always and definitely be yes.
Professional make up will guarantee a certain quality that you will specifically see on your wedding photos later. And those photos are a long lasting memory of your wedding day which you will treasure for the rest of your life.
A lot of girls aren’t used to heavier makeup on a daily basis and they tend to get a bit scared when they see the final result, but you need to understand – what you see in the mirror will not be seen on the photos later. Camera tends to eat a lot of makeup, so if you choose the “daily makeup” look for your wedding day, you will look almost washed out and pale on the photos. That’s why the makeup together with foundation should be stronger on your wedding day. You can see the example on the following photos.
For those reasons, I also strongly recommend talking to your makeup artist about your wishes and doing the test version of your wedding look. Not only will you build trust with your makeup artist and feel confident that she/he will give you the best advice possible and will do an amazing job on your wedding day, you will also set the directions of your makeup. For example if you want the colors to be similar to your whole wedding theme, if you want to show your personality with strong or gentle colors, etc…
In the end, it’s important that you feel like your wishes were heard and that you got the look you were going for. It’s important that you feel confident, because then you can truly feel and look amazing!
