Hello my fellow entrepreneurs. If you only knew how many times I’ve heard people saying to me: “I wish my day had more than 24 h”, or “I can’t get everything done, I’m swamped!”, “I feel so guilty by not spending more time with my spouse”…
We all have a lot going on at work, we’re busy helping our children, taking them to practice, doing homework… and that pile of clothes is just waiting to be ironed by some magical elf. ☺
Ok, it’s time to take a deep breath and start making some changes. It all comes to the fact that you create your time and all you create you can manage, right?
Schedule your daily tasks in advance
By taking around 10 min. in the morning (or in the evening) to plan your “to do list” will get you significantly better results and you will get much more out of your day. When you divide your tasks and start doing them, your time won’t get “sucked away”.
We all have had those periods of 15 min. of surfing the internet here, 10 min. of cleaning our desk there…and the PUF, an hour goes by and you didn’t finished that important project by the time you needed to.
Learn to say NO
As an entrepreneur you will get distracted at one point or another, but you are the one with a complete control over how much time you will spend on every action or conversation. Learn to devote your entire focus on one task at a time.
When you are in the middle of doing it, don’t pick up your phone just because you’ve heard an SMS, or don’t click to open an email just because it popped up on your screen.
Make room for your personal time
Remember those moments when you caught yourself with the laptop at 9.pm instead of being on a sofa, cuddling with your loved one? Or finishing that email instead of reading a bed time story to your child?
I know I do!
Don’t forget to take time for being with your loved ones. When you decide that the working day is over, devote your attention to your family or friends only. Shut down your phone, tablet, laptop…and take a walk, watch a good movie or have a family game night.
I know I will beat Lasse in “Risk” tonight. Yes sweetie, I’m humiliating you publicly, learn to love it! ☺ I can’t wait for you to make some changes and create more time for the things you love, without feeling guilty all the time!
