Before the engagement or couples photo session my clients, mostly girls, always ask me what to wear or do they need to do anything special for that afternoon. And most of them let me know that they never done anything like it before, so they might feel and look very awkward. ☺ Don’t worry, I got your back! 😉
So, I’ve decided to put this little blog together and share a few tips and guidelines when it comes to photographing a couple for any occasion.
-
- Wear something you feel comfortable in. Forget the rules and just come as you are. If you are use to wear jeans and all stars and that’s the outfit you feel the most comfortable in, then wearing a dress with high heels might not the best idea. You might not feel as relaxed as you normally would and you wouldn’t be able to showcase your personality and be who you really are if you don’t feel comfortable.
- If you are wearing makeup on a daily basis, put a little bit more then you usually would. Camera tends to “eat” a lot of your makeup, so it’s a good idea to put a little bit extra for that day.
- When it comes to choosing a location, consider something that showcases who you are as a couple and individuals as well. Choose a location that represents the “real” you. Taking photos at the beach at sunset might be “too much” for some people if they don’t usually spend time there, so pick somewhere where both of you would enjoy the most.
- Trust your photographer. During the photo shoot you may find yourself thinking “this is awkward”, but trust your photographer. He/She knows what they are doing and they will always try to make you look beyond amazing.

What seems a bit silly or awkward for you in that moment, may result as a great photograph in the end, so relax and enjoy! ☺
